The error of silence

Knock Knock?

Who’s There?

A Jew.

A Jew Who?

A Jew who’s tired of your silence.

And here we have our imperative resolution for 2023.

Whether it’s unfairness and injustice our Black brothers and sisters share about their experiences at work, in department stores, in the criminal justice system and elsewhere. Or when we see efforts seeking to prevent the teaching of how systemic racism impacts Black Americans. Or when we stand by and watch relentless attacks on voting rights.

Whether it’s anti-Jewish comments or words you hear among friends. Or times when you’ve heard people try to invalidate the Jews or their indigenous connection to Israel. Or when you hear words that seek to blame Jews for society’s ills. Or when some celebrity says horrific things about Jews.

It’s time for more people to speak up, take meaningful action and work towards a more inclusive and celebratory world.

And to check on your friends who may feel the stress of confronting a world that isn’t always so kind to them or their people.

Here’s to a 2023 of way less silence.
